We have been asked on numerous occasions whether hemp microgreens can be a viable alternative crop. There are implications for both growers and consumers.

The US government has recently classified hemp as an industrial crop, and microgreens are specifically exempted from regulations regarding production for uses other than regulation in most cases. State regulations are generally also overturned by these changes.

Whether hemp microgreens will emerge as a major food source remains to be seen.
